Keys are items used for entering secret exits or unlocking Warp Doors.
History[]
Super Mario Maker[]
Keys were introduced in the version 1.40 update and are created by shaking a P Switch. Keys can be placed in blocks, enemies, Yoshi eggs or floating above the ground. A key will also be recieved if a player collects all available Pink Coins in a level. Unlike in Super Mario World, keys are not tangible in this game and will instead be collected similar to coins. Mario can collect up to 8 keys. If there are no available key doors, the collected key will instead be discarded.
Keys are available in all 4 game styles.
