A Pacifist Level is a level built in Super Mario Maker that forces Mario go through a level without killing any enemies. There're somewhat similar to "Don't pick up any Power-up" levels, which is a type of level that only has one goal of avoiding to collect any Power-Ups, and a lack of enemy in the level so losing the Power-Up wouldn't be an option.

How It Works[]

If a single enemy has been killed, there are traps built that'll trigger, or Mario Will be granted a Key.

The Trap[]

When Mario kills an enemy, a trap is triggered either to softlock or kill Mario.

Key[]

Key Check (SMW)

When an enemy is killed in some levels, a key is given to Mario. Later, the level will have a Vine and a Key Door. Mario will try to climb the vine but end up opening the Key Door instead, making a softlock or death door. A hidden block trail blankets the Vine to prevent a shortcut

How To Beat[]

To clear a Pacifist level, the player must understand each movement of each enemy that is present in the level. Pacifist levels aren't complicated, but can be tricky depends on how the level was created.
