This list focuses on glitches that happen during gameplay in Super Mario Maker. This list not does include glitches that are done in editor or glitches that can be considered a tech.

Gameplay Glitches[]

Anti-Gravity Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.40
By using a certain setup, it is possible to make items fly upwards.

Normal
Anti-Gravity Glitch

Background Items Glitch[]

Immediately swallowing a winged item as it is shot out of a Bill Blaster or spawns from a pipe will cause the winged item to be in the background when it is spit back out, instead of being in the foreground where it normally is. This will work with any item.

In addition, if Mario tries to take one of these background items with him through a door or pipe it will immediately disappear when he exits it.

Winged objects will always go behind firebars instead of being in front of them.

Normal
Background Items Glitch

Bill Blaster Fast Item Launch Glitch[]

If an item is fired from a Bill Blaster while it is moving at a high speed the resulting item will be fired significantly faster than normal.

Normal
Image Needed

Bill Blaster Physics Glitch[]

If a Spring or Yoshi Egg is fired from a red Bill Blaster partially covered by a Note Block it will have a delayed reaction to being bounced. Additionally, if the Note Block is being bounced by a Yoshi it is possible to cause enemies that are fired from the Bill Blaster to become stuck in their firing animation. This includes quickly sliding across the floor while slowly losing speed, along with losing any innate abilities such as breathing fire or turning around at a ledge.

Doing this with a Chain Chomp will cause it to start slowly floating downwards after falling of a ledge.

Normal
Image Needed

Bowser Jr. Spin Glitch[]

Trapping Bowser Jr. in this setup will cause him to start spinning without going in his shell. Mario can jump on him, but is unable to damage him. This will only work in the New Super Mario Bros. U game style. If the Bowser Jr. leaves the setup he will remain spinning for a short period of time. Alternatively, it is also possible to do this in every game style if the Bowser Jr. is hit by a sideways spring at the correct time after leaving his shell.

Normal Tail Spin
Bowser Jr. Spin Glitch
Image Needed

Beach Koopa Entering a Warp Door[]

Note: It is currently unknown if this has been patched.
Causing a Beach Koopa to do a small hop while directly behind a warp door will cause to disappear as if it entered the door.

Normal
Image Needed

Bumper Super Jump Glitch[]

Flying into a Bumper as Cape Mario and twirling Mario's cape as soon as he touches it will send him flying upwards at a high speed.

Image Needed

Clown Car Momentum Storage Glitch[]

If an item traveling at a high speed lands in a Clown Car the momentum will be preserved even if it is not currently moving. Destroying the Clown Car will cause the item to resume traveling at the same speed as before.

Normal
Image Needed

Clown Car Separation Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version ?
By forcing a Clown Car to immediately be separated from the object inside of it, the object will still act like its inside of the Clown Car. This allows the Clown Car to be completely separated from the object inside of it, but still function as if it's not.

Normal
Image Needed

Conveyor/Mole Projectile Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
If a large projectile-throwing enemy is place on top of a Monty Mole while also being on a conveyor, they will gradually increase the speed at which the projectiles are thrown.

Normal
Image Needed

Costume Mario Shellmet Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.30
It is possible to wear a shellmet as Costume Mario if the the player switches the game style to Super Mario Bros. after dragging a shellmet onto Raccoon, Cape or Propeller Mario. This is only possible to perform while in the editor.

Normal
Image Needed

Crouching With Items Glitch[]

Note: See the main page for full variations
Crouching while holding an item is normally only possible in the Super Mario World game style. However, through various methods it's possible to hold items while crouching in the Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Bros. U game styles.

Super Star
Crouching With Items Glitch (Super Star)

Disappearing Items Glitch[]

Note: See the main page for full variations
If a spring is on an up and down moving platform, when Mario grabs the spring and takes it through a door/pipe it will immediately despawn when he exits it. If the spring is in Yoshi's mouth, it will still despawn, but have the appearance of Yoshi still having something in his mouth until he tries to spit it out.

Alternatively, immediately swallowing a winged item that is shot out of a Bill Blaster with Yoshi and then trying to take it through a door/pipe will also cause it to immediately despawn. This method will work with any item.

Normal
Disappearing Items Glitch

Destroying Rotating Blocks as Small Mario[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
If Super Mario takes damage while Spin Jumping, Small Mario will retain the ability to destroy Rotating Blocks until he touches the ground, which is normally not possible.

Normal
Image Needed

Door Invincibility Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.20
Taking damage and entering a door just before the invincibility frames wear off will cause Mario to have permanent invincibility. Alternatively, sliding under a Muncher that is overlapping a door as Super Mario and entering the door without taking damage will also grant Mario permanent invincibility. Mario is unable to take damage from enemies while in this state, but he can still interact with them, such as jumping off Koopas, or getting pushed backwards by Bowser.

Interestingly, Mario is unable to interact with any power-ups, except for the Super Star.

Normal
Invincibility Glitch

Door Teleportation Glitch[]

Note: The normal method only works before version 1.40
By placing a door behind a Firebar or Burner, Mario will teleport upwards to the highest point of ground when he tries to exit the door. This is still possible if a door is placed behind ground blocks through the use of the Blackhole Glitch.

Normal
Firebar Door Teleportation Glitch

Editor Freezing Glitch[]

Shaking Mario, dropping him into a specific setup and then pressing jump fast enough will freeze everything in the editor, except for Mario who is able to freely move around. This can be used to see which items are spawned when Mario is supposed to be offscreen and have a better understanding of how they work.

Normal
Editor Freezing Glitch (Freezing Objects)

Ending Sequence Delayed Note Block Jump[]

If Mario comes out of a door on the Axe directly on top of a Note Block, getting pushed back from a Bumper will delay Mario's bounce off the Note Block. This allows him to seemingly jump in midair.

Normal
Ending Sequence Midair Jump

Entangled Spring Glitch[]

If Mario grabs a spring while it is in a state of bouncing an object, it is possible to press the spring and have it bounce up the original object even though they are no longer touching. After the spring is pressed it will return back to normal.

Normal
Entangled Spring Glitch

Fake Checkpoint Glitch[]

By placing a Hidden Block over a checkpoint it is possible to make it harder to collect. The checkpoint will act like the hidden block is a solid block and because of that makes mario not collect it, as it is impossible to collect a checkpoint while being wallclipped. Checkpoint hitboxes are janky so it might needs multiple hidden blocks for it to work, which hidden blocks on track are helpful for.

Normal
Image Needed

Muncher Item Launch Glitch[]

Also known as "POWabunga"/"POW surf". By placing a Muncher in a certain setup it is possible to launch an item at very fast speeds.

Normal Winged
Fast Muncher Item Launch Glitch
Winged Muncher Pipe Item Launch

Fire Floater[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
If Raccoon Mario is inside a Goomba's Shoe, collecting a Fire Flower while in midair will allow Fire Mario to retain the physics of having a tail. This will last until Mario either leaves the Goomba's Shoe or touches the ground.

Normal
Image Needed

Flutter Jump Refresh[]

Note: This only works before version ?
When Mario is wearing a shellmet and hits a grinder in midair, he is able to refresh a Goomba's Shoe or Yoshi's Flutter Jump, essentially allowing for infinite flutter.

Yoshi
Flutter Jump Refresh

Flying Beach Koopa Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
When a frozen Beach Koopa is hit by a sideways spring it will fly upwards indefinitely until it hits a ceiling. The Beach Koopa will then remain in place even if the ceiling is removed. Mario is unable to take damage while the Beach Koopa is in this state, but is still able to jump on it.

Flying Beach Koopa

Flying Bowser Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.40
When a giant Bowser hits a sideways spring while in the air he will be sent flying upwards.

Normal
Flying Enemy Glitch (Bowser)

Flying Bowser Jr. Glitch[]

Spitting a sideways spring at Bowser Jr. at the start of his ground pound animation will cause him to start flying. He will fly up infinitely unless he hits a ceiling, in which case he will stay at that height even if there is no longer a ceiling above him.

Normal
Flying Bowser Jr. Glitch

Flying Cannon Glitch[]

Note: The conveyor method only works on levels created before version 1.40
Note: The P Switch method only works on levels created before version 1.47

Conveyor P Switch Conveyor Launch (Vertical) Conveyor Launch (Horizontal)

Flying Cannon Glitch (P Switch)
Conveyor Launcing Glitch (Vertical)
Conveyor Launcing Glitch (Horizontal)

Flying Hammer Bro Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47.
Hitting a Hammer Bro with a sideways spring at the start of his jumping animation will cause him to start flying. It will fly up infinitely unless it hits a ceiling, in which case it will stay at that height even if there is no longer a ceiling above him.

Normal
Image Needed

Forced Crouch Storage Glitch[]

Note: See the main page for full variations.
Holding down when bouncing on a grinder with Yoshi will cause Mario to be forced into crouching whenever he bounces on something. This can also be done by crouching, holding down and hitting the bottom side of a grinder while touching the ground.

This will remain until Mario is killed or touches a bumper.

Spin Cancel
Yoshi Crouch Storage Glitch (Spin Cancel)

Frozen Bowser Glitch[]

Note: The normal method only works on levels created before version 1.3
Placing Bowser on a lava lift and putting blocks above his head will cause him to be frozen in place whenever he tries to jump. Alternatively, it is possible to do this through the use of Stack Flipping. He will be unable to move or shoot fireballs, but will still move his head in the direction of Mario.

Normal Stack Flipping
Frozen Bowser Glitch
Image Needed

Frozen Bowser Jr. Glitch[]

Note: It is currently unknown if this glitch has been patched.

Normal
Image Needed

Frozen Beach Koopa Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
Destroying a Beach Koopa's shell just before it enters will cause the Koopa to be frozen in place.

Normal
Koopa Freeze Glitch

Frozen Yoshi Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?.
While underwater, hitting a spike while Yoshi is eating a Cheep Cheep, will cause Yoshi to be completely frozen except for his feet and eyes. Yoshi will be unable to spit out the Cheep Cheep and unable to turn around. Going through a Warp Pipe will de-activate the glitch.

Alternatively, clipping Yoshi through solid ground will make Yoshi completely frozen except for his eyes. If Mario mounts Yoshi he will return to normal.

Getting Pushed Offscreen in an Autoscroller[]

Note: This only works before version ?.
When in a level with autoscroll, Mario is able to be pushed ahead offscreen by an object on a track, such as a Bill Blaster. As of version ?, Mario will die from being crushed when he is pushed into the edge of the screen meaning any level that requires it is impossible.

Normal
Image Needed

Goomba's Shoe Duplication Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
It is possible to duplicate a Goomba's Shoe if Mario enters one while it is being bounced by a sideways spring on a track. Mario will be inside a shoe, even though the original shoe is still being bounced.

Normal
Goomba's Shoe Duplication Glitch

Hidden Crouch[]

When Super Mario crouch jumps and gets damaged, Small Mario will still have all the effects of being crouched even in the Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3 game styles. This includes having a smaller hitbox even though Mario doesn't appear any different than his normal sprite, as well as being able to perform crouch-only techniques.

This effect can also be achieved through the use of the Forced Crouch Storage Glitch whenever Small Mario bounces on something.

Crouch Jump
Hidden Crouch

Goomba's Shoe Spawn Glitch[]

If a Goomba's Shoe is stacked on a Muncher that is on top of a falling platform, causing the stack to spawn by running in from the side will make the Goomba's Shoe spawn without a Goomba being in it. The Goomba's Shoe will act like a normal stacked Goomba would. This will also allow Mario to kill the Goomba's Shoe by jumping on it which is normally not possible. It also means Mario is unable to wear the shoe.

Normal Killing the Shoe
Stack Flipping (Goomba's Shoe)
Stack Flipping (Goomba's Shoe Kill)

High Speed Muncher/Thwomp Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
Trapping a Muncher or Thwomp inside Brick Blocks or Rotating Blocks by activating a P Switch will force them to rapidly move forward.

Normal
High Speed Thwomp Glitch

Infinite Coins Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
By standing a specific distance from a coin Yoshi is able to swallow the coin without actually eating it. This glitch will also allow Yoshi to eat solid blocks. Another method involves eating a coin with Yoshi while riding on a circular moving lava lift will allow a coin to be collected without being eaten.

Normal Lava Lift

Intangible Wall Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.20.
If this glitch was set up before version 1.20 it will still work in current physics, but it is no longer possible to create this glitch from a new level.

Normal
Intangible Wall Glitch

Item Momentum Storage Glitch[]

Spitting an item out with Yoshi while on a conveyor or fast moving shell will cause the game to think the items are still moving. This allows Yoshi to spit out items either much slower or faster than normal depending on the direction the item is spit. This will also work with power-ups, but will not work with shells or other enemies.

Slow Spit Fast Spit

Image Needed

Item Wall Clip[]

Through the use of various methods, it is possible to clip items completely through a solid wall.

Cape Yoshi
Item Wall Clip (Cape)
Item Wall Clip (Yoshi Shell)

Items Into Uploaded Levels Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.32
It is possible to glitch items into uploaded levels that were not originally in the level. This would allow a player to complete a level without having to actually play it.

Normal
Image Needed

Jumping Spring Glitch[]

Note: It is currently unknown if this glitch has been patched.
By putting a spring in a certain setup, the spring will jump off the ground after around 10 seconds of being onscreen. This will only happen once before the spring returns to it's normal state.

Normal
Image Needed

Life After Death[]

By jumping off a spring below the screen, it is possible to trigger the death sequence without Mario falling completely offscreen. This makes it possible to control Mario after he has died.

Mario is unable to interact with any object or complete the level.

Normal
Image Needed

Null Sprite Glitch[]

If Yoshi eats a P Switch at the same time it gets pressed he is able to swallow the used P Switch after it gets activated. This will cause Yoshi to appear to have an item in his mouth, when in reality his mouth is empty. Alternatively, swallowing a winged item as soon as it is shot out of a Bill Blaster and then going through a door or pipe will also cause this.

Another way to perform this is through the use of the Yoshi Shell Glitch and knocking the glitched shell out of Yoshi's mouth with a shellmet.

While there is no physical object in his mouth, this will still allow Yoshi to swim faster underwater.

Used P Switch
Yoshi Used P Switch Eat

Magikoopa Block Immunity Spawn Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
If a Magikoopa's spell hits a block while it is immune to being destroyed he it still able to cause an object to spawn at random even though the block itself is not being transformed.

Normal
Image Needed

Magikoopa Stack Floating Muncher Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
By causing a Magikoopa with Munchers stacked on it to immediately despawn the Munchers will remain in place and start floating. It is unknown if this works with other enemies.

Normal
Magikoopa Stack Floating Muncher Glitch

Muncher Hitbox Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.40
When a Muncher hits a sideways spring its hitbox is altered. Mario is unable to interact with the Muncher, although he will still take damage, and Yoshi will bounce off the Muncher just like he would on most other enemies.

Mario Yoshi
Muncher Hitbox Glitch
Muncher Hitbox Glitch (Yoshi Bounce)

No Bounce Spring Jump Glitch[]

Note: See the main page for full variations
Placing a Hidden Block directly above a spring will make it where Mario is unable to bounce off the spring. Alternatively, spawning a spring out of a block that is directly below a spring will also have this effect.

Hidden Blocks
No Bounce Spring Jump (Hidden Block)

Non-Interactive Spring Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
Through various methods, it is possible to make a spring unable to interact with Mario. The spring will still interact with other items and enemies.

Clipping
Non-Interactive Spring

Object Bypassing[]

Through various methods, it is possible to clip through objects that Mario normally cannot walk through.

Normal
One-Way Wall Bypass

Offscreen Block Duplication Glitch[]

Note: This only works after version ? for Note Blocks and after version 1.47 for Brick, Rotating and ? Blocks.
If a Brick Block, Note Block, Rotating Block or ? Block is placed at the top corner of screen, throwing a shell over it will cause corresponding block being duplicated upwards for the duration of the time the shell is directly above the block. With the exception of Note Blocks, this also results in the the player getting between 1 and 6 coins from hitting the offscreen block. The shell will also sometimes rebound off, or get stopped completely

This is likely a remnant of previous versions of the game where blocks would extend infinitely above the screen.

Normal
Image Needed

Parabeetle Hitbox Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
When Yoshi eats a Parabeetle and spits it out, Mario will be unable to jump on it even if he is Spin Jumping. If the shell is moving Mario will take damage if he tries to jump on it.

The reason for this is likely because the game still thinks it's a Parabeetle even though it loses its wings when swallowed by Yoshi.

Normal
Image Needed

Partially Intangible Items Glitch[]

If Mario grabs a winged item and drops it from landing on a Yoshi, the item will become partially intangible. Allowing Mario to stand on top of it, but walk directly through. This also allows other objects, such as shells, to pass through it.

Normal
Image Needed

Phantom Bowser Jr. Glitch[]

Note: Thie normal way only works on levels created before version ?
If a Bowser Jr's Clown Car gets crushed during his animation for taking damage he will become unable to ineract with Mario. His death sound effect will play, but he will not be killed and can still hurt Mario with his fireballs.

Normal
Image Needed

Pipe Teleport Glitch[]

Note: This will only work on levels created before version 1.45
If Mario enters a Warp Pipe while getting hit by a sideways spring and mounting Yoshi he will be teleported through the pipe before returning through it shortly after. Mario will be unable to interact with anything during this glitch.

Normal
Image Needed

Power-up Physics Glitch[]

When Yoshi spits a Cape Feather onto a spring the Cape Feather will gain physics similar to a Super Mushroom. It will no longer float offscreen, but instead move along the ground. The Cape Feather will also be unable to get bounced back from sideways springs.

Alternatively, if Yoshi swallows a Super Mushroom while it is bouncing on a spring it will be completely stationary when he spits it back out.

Cape Feather Super Mushroom
Cape Feather Physics Glitch
Super Mushroom Physics Glitch

P-Switch Springs Move Glitch[]

In Super Mario World theme, when two vertical springs stand next to each other, grab a P-Switch, get low horizontal speed, jump, drop the P-switch a bit under you, then land on the P-switch as it lands in the middle of the two springs. The springs will move apart. Exactly how much depends on the exact spot between them where the P-Switch lands.

P-Switch Springs Move Glitch

Shrunken Mario Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.3
If Mario exits a Warp Pipe that is covered by a spike on one side while riding on Yoshi he will become a shrunken down version of the form he is currently in. This will work with any form of Mario.

Normal
Shrinkingmario

Slow Motion Glitch[]

By creating large amounts of lag, it is possible to make the game run as if it was in slow motion. When the game has extreme lag, it is possible to cause many unintended effects to happen. This includes causing blocks to despawn after hitting them, being able to walk on Note Blocks without bouncing off them and various other actions.

Normal
Slow Motion Glitch

Small Koopa Troopa Glitch[]

By jumping onto a spring and immediately entering a wall slide, Mario will be unable to jump to his maximum height. This is also possible jumping off of a Bumper and immediately landing on ground. Mario will jump one block lower than normal, even if the jump button is held down. This can also be used to perform an otherwise impossible small jump.

Normal
Small Jump Glitch

Spawn-Blocked Stack[]

Note: This is partially patched on levels created after version 1.47
If the middle of a stack is Spawn-Blocked the top and bottom will still be considered to be stacked. This will last until the top of the stack touches the ground or reconnects to the bottom of the stack. As of version 1.47, this will only work if the top and bottom of the stack are 9 blocks or less apart.

Normal
Spawn-Blocked Stack

Spring Launching Glitch[]

Note: This is partially patched in levels created after version ?
By compressing a lot sideways springs, it is possible to be shot across the entire level map in a few seconds.

Normal
Image Needed

Spring Momentum Glitch[]

If a P Switch or POW Block presses down on the edge of a spring in a certain way it will be pushed forward in the opposite direction.

Normal
Spring Momentum Glitch (Up Throw)

Stack Displacement Glitch[]

If a Spike Top climbs onto a wall in a setup where the enemy stacked on top of him cannot follow, the stack will become separated while still being considered a stack.

Normal
Stack Displacement Glitch

Stack Flipping Glitch[]

If an enemy stack is placed on any kind of lift, the stack will flip when it is spawned from the side. This will not work if the entire stack is spawned at the same time.

Normal
Image Needed

Super Spring Jump Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.20
Facing left and right repeatedly while holding an item and jumping on a spring will cause Mario to jump over 2 times higher than normal. This will only work in the Super Mario World game style.

Normal
Image Needed

Teleportation Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.40
By doing a certain setup, it is possible to make a donut block fly to the end of the screen at hyper speeds allowing Mario to travel to the end of the level map in under a second.

Normal
Donut Block Teleportation Glitch

Teleporting Power-ups Glitch[]

Swallowing a power-up with Yoshi while it's bouncing on a spring at the correct time will cause the power-up to teleport back to the spring when it is spit out.

Normal
Image Needed

Track Momentum Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.20

Normal
Image Needed

Winged Items Glitch[]

Note: The Parabeetle version only works on levels created before version 1.47
If a winged object loses its wings by either being grabbed by Mario or swallowed by Yoshi, it will retain some physics of still having the wings while appearing to be a normal object. This allows Yoshi to spit items through walls, as well as making Buzzy Beetles act like Parabeetles.

Item Wall Clip
Item Wall Clip (Yoshi Winged Item Glitch)

Wrong State POW Block Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.40
By grabbing a POW Block after it falls off a track, the POW will retain the physics of falling off a track even while being carried. This allows the POW to fall through the ground for a few frames after being dropped. Once it falls through the ground the POW will return to normal.

Additionally, if a sideways spring hit the POW Block while its in this state, as long the POW Block was in contact with a surface, it will slowly fall downward in it.

Normal
Wrong State POW Block Glitch

Yoshi Eating Blocks Glitch[]

Note: This only works before version 1.20
If Yoshi tries to eat a coin that is directly below a block, it is possible for Yoshi to eat the block as if it were a coin instead.

Normal
Yoshi Eating Blocks Glitch

Yoshi Shell Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
By eating a moving shell while in a certain setup, the shell will still have the properties of moving while in Yoshi's mouth. Mario will take damage if he is riding on Yoshi. By performing a jump, it is possible to jump infinitely high until Mario takes damage. Mario is able to spin jump on the shell while it is inside Yoshi's mouth and is also able to put the shellmet on by walking in front of Yoshi's mouth.

Normal
Yoshi Shell Glitch

Visual Glitches[]

Glitches that have no effect on the gameplay, but instead affect sprites or models.

Air Twirl Animation[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version 1.47
When Mario does a Triple Jump into a sideways spring he will not spin around when doing an air twirl.

Normal
Frozen Air Twirl Animation

Goomba Shoe Sprite Glitch[]

By hitting a spring just before entering the castle while riding a large Goomba Shoe, Mario's sprite will appear squished. This is because the Goomba Shoe is too large to enter the castle and must be shrunk down in order to enter it.

Normal
Goomba Shoe Sprite Glitch

Invisible POW Block Glitch[]

Note: This only works on levels created before version ?
Performing the POW Block Duplication trick by swallowing a POW with Yoshi on the same frame it is destroyed will cause the duplicated POW Block to be invisible.

Normal
Image Needed

Missing Shellmet Animation[]

By taking damage on the same frame a shellmet is put on, the animation for a shellmet being discarded will not happen. If you lose the shellmet somewhere else before performing the glitch, the shellmet will be discarded in the same place as it was the first time.

Underwater Swim Animation Glitch (Walking)

Yoshi Sprite Spawn Glitch[]

If Mario dies at the same time a Yoshi hatches from an egg, Yoshi's head will show up in the bottom corner of the level if he is placed at the top of the screen.

Normal
Yoshi Sprite Spawn Glitch

Sound Glitches[]

Glitches that only effect the sound.

No Music Glitch[]

By doing a certain action, it is possible to cause a level's music to stop playing for the remainder of the level, including the P Switch timer. It is currently unknown exactly what causes this, however the most likely reason is from a clashing of sounds cancelling each other out resulting in neither one playing.

Music on the Results Screen[]

By spamming a large number of sound effects at the end of a level, it is possible to cause the sound to persist onto the results screen, which would normally never happen.

Softlocks / Game Crashes[]

A softlock is when the game is completely frozen and must be restarted. The home button will continue to function, as will the hand when in editor (although it can't interact with anything), but no other button will work. The sound will continue to play and certain objects may still have animation.

A game crash on the other hand, will be accompanied by a loud beeping sound and no button on the controller will function. Additionally, the game will have no animation or sound at all. The only way to fix this is by turning the Wii U off.

Blank Level Game Crash[]

If a level does not load properly (such as by network errors) a blank level will be loaded in place of the actual level. If the player tries to exit the level the game will crash.

Enemy Stack Game Crash[]

With various different enemy stacks, giving the top enemy a Super Mushroom in the editor, hitting play and then immediately hitting edit will cause the game to crash.

Muncher Door Softlock[]

Note: This only works before version 1.40
Going through a door that has a giant Muncher blocking the exit while riding on Yoshi will cause the game to freeze.

Offscreen Pipe Softlock[]

Note: This only works before version 1.47
Entering a pipe that is offscreen without causing the screen to scroll up will cause the game to freeze.

Title Screen Game Crash[]

It is possible to cause the game to crash from the title screen. It is currently unknown what causes this.

Normal
Image Needed

Underwater Pipe Softlock[]

Note: This only works before version 1.30
