The Item Vine Carry is a basic trick used in Super Mario Maker that allows Mario to carry an item up a vine.

How It Works

Unlike in Super Mario World, it is not possible to carry an item while climbing a vine. Instead, Mario has to throw an item, climb the vine and then regrab the item.

Variations

Dropping

This version is done by dropping an item after the peak of Mario's jump, grabbing the vine and then immediately regrabbing the item after jumping off the vine.

Normal

Forward Throw

This version is done by throwing an item off a wall, grabbing the vine and then regrabbing the item after jumping off the vine.

Normal

Up Throw

This version is done by throwing an item upwards, climbing up the vine and then regrabbing the item after jumping off the vine. It is also possible to juggle two different items up a vine.
