|Floating Door Entry|

The Floating Door Entry is a basic trick used in Super Mario Maker. This trick allows Mario to enter a floating door by using various items.
How It Works
When Mario lands on an item he is considered to be standing on ground. This allows him to enter a door that is not on the ground.
When Mario lands on a POW Block he is considered to be standing on ground. However, a POW Block will only be considered solid if it is thrown or touches ground. This means that Mario is unable to land a POW Block by simply dropping it in midair.

When Mario lands on a P Switch, he is considered to be standing on ground for 10 frames. This allows him to enter a floating door.
As of version 1.40, Mario is only able to stay in contact with a P Switch in midair for 3 frames. Because a P Switch is not activated until the 4th frame after pressing it, this means it is no longer possible to enter a door while also activating the P Switch at the same time.
